The Cloud Operating System
At Cloud My Office, we focus on providing awesome technology at really affordable prices. To that end, we’ve spent significant time developing our Cloud My Office diskless thin client Operating System. We call our diskless operating system CMOS.
OPEN THIN CLIENT
Based on an open-source linux distribution called Ubuntu, CMOS is an easy-to-use operating system that does just one thing really well: connect to the Cloud My Office cloud. We do sell hardware that contains our image pre-installed but you can also just download the CD and install it yourself.
CMOS is a bootable CD image that can turn just about any regular PC or netbook into an ultra-fast cloud connecting machine. Even really old computers or computers with lots of viruses can be set up to run CMOS. You can download our thin client operating system at no charge in the downloads section.
DISKLESS THIN CLIENT
So you’re an IT fanatic and you already have an office full of computers that are running really well. And you also want to boot those machines without hard drives in diskless mode? CMOS supports diskless mode.
Our diskless boot image can be deployed to an entire company via TFTP/PXE. It supports USB storage, input devices and printers so you can keep working with your old hardware too.
CMOS comes with the citrix receiver pre-installed and ready to go. In fact when you boot up your CMOS device, the first screen you’ll see is the login page for Cloud My Office. No hassle!
Just about any USB printer, USB storage device and other input devices will be usable on your cloud my office desktop, too! You don’t need to compromise security or usability with CMOS.
CLIENT SERVER COMPUTING
One of the prime benefits of client server computing, the technology that Cloud My Office is based on, is that you don’t need a really fast computer. In fact you don’t even need a kind of fast computer. Computers can be up to 8 years old (seriously) and still work with our bootable CD.
The truth is that the difference between a thin client (a really stripped down PC) and a fat client (a regular PC) is really only in CPU power and graphics. Since both processing and graphics are handled on the server with Cloud My Office, the computer you connect with doesn’t need to be fast at all.
INSTALLING THE THIN CLIENT OPERATING SYSTEM
The steps to get CMOS working on your computer are really straightforward. Below are some instructions that we hope will make it really easy for you to get going quickly and easily.
- Download the lastest CMOS client software at https://cmosupdates.cloudmyoffice.com/releases/2.1.022114.iso
- Burn it to a CD using your favorite CD burning program
- Boot your computer from the CD drive
That’s it — it’s really that easy!
